Bar height sofa table

I am finding that people love this bar height sofa table idea... and so do I! (see below)

Basically, it's a 42" high sofa table that you can use as a bar when you don't want certain people from eating or drinking on your couch.

Really great idea.

People have come into the store I work at asking for this. We have no idea where to get it.

So, I'm going to save you all some time. It's much better to DIY this one.

It's really popular to have a "live edge" wood piece as the top, and this is where a lot of people get stumped. You can go to a lumber wholesaler directly to buy pieces like this, most of them sell to the public as well. You would be looking for a specialty wood retailer, not Lowes or Home Depot.
Depending on the wood, you could spend anywhere from $50-$150 on the piece. Or, you could take a more frugal route and buy a nice squared off piece.

If you don't want to bother with a specialty wood retailer, you can always go to your big box store and purchase a couple 2x10s or whatever size you are looking for. Easy peasy.

If you don't like wood, head to a granite shop and ask to see their remnants. Keep in mind, there's a good chance you won't be able to get exactly the size you were hoping for, so be flexible.
Flexible = Frugal

After the wood or granite, you just need legs. Now keep in mind bar height (42") is very high, you will need a cross bar. I personally like making an X with the supports (it's more stable), but sometimes that just doesn't work with your decor. You could also look into counter height (36") which is a more comfortable height for someone say 5'5" tall. I leave that up to you.

The legs could be anything from copper tubing (1/2" round or thicker) to the [common] wood. Get inspiration from Pinterest, Houzz, or the trusty Google.

I would make a post one, however, I don't have the space or use for one yet - will be doing one up once I do!
